Unique, creative and artistic best describes The Cocktail Party Chef, a catering company that specializes only in cocktail parties with hors d'oeuvres. It offers three-tiered menu services. Two full-service options with chefs & waitstaff on site: the Premium & Choice menus. And a Delivery Menu with no staff provided.
Chef/owner Karen Ferries-Yoon's food background includes growing up in the gastronomic capital of Brussels, Belgium where her mom instilled an infectious love for cooking in her as a young girl. A career in the culinary industry was inevitable. Her most impressionable work experience was starting off as a bottom-rung cook making hors d'oeuvres at Chef Daniel Boulud's flagship restaurant, Daniel, in Manhattan for their catering division. Preparing stylish bites, and finding creative ways to present them for cocktail parties, soon became her forte.
Selections from the Premium, Choice and Delivery menus capture the modern palate that craves familiar foods and mainstream flavors during the cocktail hour. While many offerings don't stray far from the classic recipe, most entail a creative spin that stays comfortably within the cocktail party comfort zone. An unexpected flavor-boosting ingredient, a new take on an old favorite, or an innovative way of presenting an hors d'oeuvre.
The signature look of The Cocktail Party Chef are its beautiful presentations on the company's white square platters for the Premium & Choice menus. Every set of platters are customized and incorporate a color palette or party theme. In the photo above is pulled pork with a Mexican posole sauce recipe in corn cups. Cactus pads and sand hint at the origins of the recipe. They act as a functional base, but also as intriguing centerpieces.
